Frank Stella’s “Jeziory” for the Jewish Museum of Switzerland

The Jewish Museum of Switzerland in Basel will move to a new building in 2025. The renovation plans by architect Roger Diener include a frontispiece by the US artist Frank Stella. The graphic work “Jeziory,” enlarged to a monumental scale, will adorn the façade of the new house. The work belongs to Stella’s 1970s series “Polish Villages,” which was inspired by the wooden synagogues of Poland-Lithuania. The artist, who died this month at age 87, was a pioneer of minimalism and abstraction.
